The 95 theses Martin Luther published in Wittenberg in 1517 and the Reformation he initiated transformed Europe, and these distant events directly affect us – in Latvia at the beginning of the 21 st century. The exhibition’s digital version tells us about late medieval piety, Luther's struggle against indulgences and conflict with the Roman Catholic Church, about how his teachings spread and how the Lutheran Reformation fostered the development of the written Latvian language.
